'Snow Ghost' is the name given to a conifer totally encased in wind-blown snow. A forest of these is like an alien world. The summit landscape of Big White ski resort in B.C. Canada always reminds me of the cheesy papier-mache sets in Irwin Allen's "Lost in Space" TV series, with an alien wind as the soundtrack.
