"As nothing specifically apocalyptic is likely to happen, I figure that, relative to the age of the earth and the relatively minuscule part humans have had in that timeline, the entire 21st century could be that one "moment" in time that may come close. Perhaps not the end, but it won't be pretty." I posted that to Facebook yesterday. Apparently this makes me grumpy, a misery-guts and depressing, but I thought it might be a good occasion to rescue my friends from mediocre feel-good distractions such that FB and Twitting are.
