George Havrillay was fascinated with the business of forgeries, and later signed his own reproductions with his name. However, for a short time he mused on creating some unique "previously undiscovered" paintings in the style of some distinctive artists, notably Amedeo Modigliani (1884–1920) and Chaïm Soutine (1893-1943).
