HSV-7 Tower A view looking down in the direction of Dorcas Street

Year
1969

I took this snap on one of my many trips up the tower to adjust the microwave dish to align with the Outside Broadcast Unit transmitter. It was line-of-sight transmitting and the OB van would have been somewhere in the Melbourne suburbs. Being 200 foot high, it took a while to get comfortable climbing the tower. On one occasion whilst I was still a novice at this, Ronnie, an OB engineer, grabbed the rail on the top platform and heaved himself around to get the tower swaying - baptism by fire for newcomers like me!
