#600 — New in the old // Women breaking ground

Listen back to recent programs

Program 600
Ripple Effect Band
Broadcast

A great new discovery is a French-Canadian producer Cédric Dind-Lavoie gently augmenting folkloric archival recordings from the 1940s & 50s. His work is similar to Cserepes from Hungary.  Also, instruments made from junk found in the streets of Brussels, and women from North Africa making music in traditionally male roles, along with the wonderful all-women Ripple Effect Band from Arnhem Land (pictured).
