Fraser Fifield has produced an album of pipe music that isn't what you might expect. He's taken "pipe" to include saxophones, flutes and whistles to produce a really engaging album.
Oki Kano (from the Oki Dub Aïnu Band) is about to release an album from his first decade of releases (1996-2006), most previously released only in Japan. While strongly embracing the sound of the traditional tonkori, they point to his broad range of musical interests. It's a really likeable record.
The Worlds Within Worlds label has a new sampler out too, showing just how strong its growing catalogue has become.
