The tradition of Salvesen is an exuberant song and dance form that emerged from years of South Sea Islanders' working as indentured laborers in the cane fields of Queensland from the 1860s to the turn of the century.  It's still performed today in the central islands of Vanuatu.  Michael Webb has put together a beautiful detailed book with an extraordinary album.
